‘Monster Facts & Figures’ located on the back of the beef pack was part of their‘ new series’ this one doesn’t say that ergo it’s one of the first runs… This ‘Monster Facts & Figures’ features the Gargon! We learn that ‘The Gargons were monstrous females with huge teeth and sharp claws. Legend has it that the most famous of them was called Medusa. Medusa had hissing snakes instead of hair. Her face was so horrible that no living thing could look at her without being turned to stone. If they’d had a bag or two of Monster Munch to concentrate on, no one would have ever considered looking at Medusa’.

Blue Monster has four hands there... He usually only has three doesn't he?
ReplyDeleteNice to see another "fact" thing - the Gorgon's not as interesting looking as their Catoblepas but still a fun thing to have on a pack of crisps, yes!
It’s the Yellow monster that has 3 arms (and one leg) Blue monster has four arms (two feet and four ears!) one thing that is missing from this design is his hat! I agree with you, the Catoblepas looked more interesting than the Gorgon- I wish I had a list of all the monsters that they featured!
DeleteWow! These are amazing! I've been searching for these everywhere....well, one in particular (as there was only ever one in Ireland). Do you happen to have an image of The Cyclops? Finding it has proven to be impossible. Please say you can help!
ReplyDeleteOh and I don't know if you've seen these, but these are the only other two I could find after hours and hours of searching :-)

Im afraid I haven't got the Cyclops :( But you have reminded me that I still need to add the Pickled Onion bag to the blog (which features the Wyvern)
DeleteI seem to remember the abominable snowman it was just the outline of a footprint and also the lochness monster? These are some of my earliest memories from school.
ReplyDeleteFantastic! Vintage packets are as elusive as those two creatures!!
